Mounjaro Advice
Posted on:
The NHS is gradually making new weight loss medications (such as Tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro) available to a small group of patients who meet strict national criteria.
However, the initiation of this drug (Mounjaro) for weight loss on the NHS has not started in Ealing. At present we do not have a date for when we will be commencing this, and will be guided by our North West ICB, so please do not complete an E consult or phone our GP Surgery to request Mounjaro.
When we do start prescribing Mounjaro In order to be eligible you must have a BMI of over 40 (37.5 for certain ethnicities) PLUS 4 of the 5 conditions:
- dyslipidaemia (abnormal fat levels in the blood)
- hypertension (high blood pressure)
- obstructive sleep apnoea (when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep)
- cardiovascular disease (heart and blood vessel disease)
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
We will update our website when the situation changes.
